Rick came to the Corvallis Aquatic Team in September of 1990 with a master's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Northern Colorado and a bachelor's degree in psychology from Willamette University. He swam competitively for 10 years and has been coaching swimmers since 1987. Rick began coaching for the Hickam Hurricanes in Honolulu, Hawaii. After a year in Hawaii, he moved to the University of Northern Colorado to work on his master's and gain collegiate coaching experience with their women's varsity swim team. Upon completing his degree in December 1989, he moved to the Las Vegas Gold Swim Team in Nevada. There he served as assistant coach in charge of the developmental team and team recruiting. Rick has been a licensed massage technician since April 1994. In his life beyond swimming, Rick enjoys surfing, skiing, and traveling. Rick was voted Age Group Coach of the year for 1995 and Senior Coach of the Year for 1996, 97 and 2005 by Oregon Swimming, Inc. E-mail Rick at surfswimcat@aol.com. |

Greg moved to Corvallis in 1996 to work on a Masters degree in Oceanography. He has a bachelor's degree in secondary science education from the University of Northern Colorado. Greg began coaching a summer club team in 1988 in Cortez, Colorado. From 1990 to 1995 he was head coach of a year round program in Eaton, Colorado. He joined the CAT coaching staff in the fall of 1998 and began working with the Novice and Junior IA groups. During his time with CAT Greg has completed parts 1 and 2 of the National Age Group coaches college through USA swimming and the level 2 stroke school through the American Swim Coaches Association. Greg has also been selected as an assistant coach for the zone and all-star team for 2002-05 and the head coach for 2006-07. He was also nominated for the OSI Age Group coach of the year for 2005. Erin Popelka: Novice, Junior IA
Erin grew up in the St. Louis, MO area, swimming for the Clayton Shaw Park Swim Team during high school. In college, she swam for the College of Wooster in Ohio. During her tenure, she she became an All-American in the 100, 200 fly and 200 IM. After graduating with a degree in English, Erin worked in Washington, DC for two years at a non-profit publishing company, Island Press, and then left the city to serve the National Science Foundation for two seasons at McMurdo Station in Antartica. Missing a pool and her bicycle, she moved to Corvallis in May, 2007. E-mail Erin at popotheartist@yahoo.com. Caleb Fenner: Senior I, Junior IB Caleb joined CAT in 1989 at the of 7. He graduated from CV in 2001 and proceeded to swim at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. He was the captian of his college team for two years. Nathan
Boal - Nathan attended Corvallis High School and swam through
college at Valparaiso. He has coached many different ages and
ability levels both for CAT and Emerald Aquatics in Eugene.
Currently his busy schedule only allows him to coach our evening
