This
meeting is open to current team parents and parents of those
interested in joining. Meet the coaches, ask questions. Find out
about the new online registration. No paperwork! A new slate of Board members will
be presented.

Jacob Ties
the National Age Group Record in the 100 Back - Saturday
night Jacob was the second 15-16 US male to ever go under 2:00 in
the 200 back, posting a final time of 1:58.96, finishing 2nd
overall. He broke the Oregon Swimming all time record by two
seconds. On the first night of competition Jacob finished 3rd
in the 100 back, in :55.88, one hundredth of a second off the
Oregon Swimming all time record. On day two, he finished 10th
in the 400 i.m., in 4:28.33 , breaking the Oregon Swimming 15-16
record. On the final day of the meet Jacob finished 5th in the
200 i.m., 2 sec. faster than his US National meets, in
2:04.30. (The Jr. Pan Pac Championships includes the top 18
and under swimmers from Australia, Japan, Canada, New Zealand)

Anyone wishing to join the
Corvallis Aquatic Team is welcome. No need to call ahead, simply
arrive ready to swim, with suit, cap and goggles, any weekday
afternoon at 3:30 or 4:45. CAT practices at the deep end of
the pool. Introduce yourself to a coach and ask to be evaluated for
squad placement. Membership registration will be available
online.

2010 Western Zone
Championship

Congratulantions to Erika Twenge, Alex Brookes,
Brandon Shreeve, and Austin Turner for being selected to
the 2010 OSI Western Zone team. 60 swimmers from around
Oregon will be traveling to San Jose to compete against 15 teams
from the western US.
To
be apply to the team you must be between 11-18 and meet the
qualifying time standard. The team is then selected by the
staff to make the most competitive team for
Oregon.
CAT and Team Oregon had a
terrific start to the meet. In the 1500 Brandon was
second and Alex was 6th with a 17:32 which is his first Senior
Sectional time! At the end of finals on the first day Team Oregon
was in first place, with CAT contributing both individual points
and relay points. After prelims on Wednesday Austin was
seeded 6th in the 200 breast. In the 200 back Alex had
another best time and is second alternate. Brandon is first
alternate, he should be competing for a spot in the top 3.
You have to get up and race in the morning. There are no
freebees.
With two days left Team Oregon
has solidified its second place standing. On Thursday
Erika finaled in the 100 fly (4th) and the 200 fr (8th).
Austin was excited when he finaled in the 400 IM. He
had a solid breaststroke leg (1:23.1) and finished in 2nd with a
best time by 9 seconds from 11&O champs. Brandon finaled
in the 200 fr (5th) and 400 IM (7th) with two best times.
Alex swam the 200 fr and had a best time.
On Saturday, the final day of
the meet, Brandon finished 3rd and Alex was 10th in the 800 free,
both with best times. Erika finished 6th in the 100 free.
Austin finished 3rd in the 200 i.m. Nice meet everyone.

CAT has three swimmers representing us at the
National Championship. Jessie James, Jacob Pebley, and Logan
Storie will be racing against the top swimmers in the nation. Jacob
broke the CAT Open record in the 400 i.m. finishing in 4:31.06.
Jacob finished 18th in the 100 back with a new Oregon and CAT
record with a time of 56.0. Jessie finished 59th in the 800 free.
Logan was 40th in the 1500 free. Jacob broke the Oregon 15-16
and CAT Open records in the 200 i.m. On the final day of the meet
Jacob finished 10th in the 200 back and was the 18under champion
with a new CAT and Oregon all time record of 2:01.0. This
swim qualified him for the Jr. Pan Pac Championships in Maui later

Junior Nationals
CAT has two swimmers representing the team at the Junior
National Championship. To qualify for this meet you must meet
the time standard and be 18 years of age or under. Jessie
James, and Jacob Pebley will be staying the additional week to
continue racing.
Jacob was selected to the Junior PanPac team which will be
competing in Maui August 26-30th. Monday Jessie finished 37th in
the 800 free, 1 sec. faster than her time last week. Tuesday Jacob
finished 2nd in the 200 back and Jessie finished in 2:21.3, 1.5
seconds faster than her National swim. Wednesday Jessie was 41st in
the 400 free. On Thursday Jacob finished 13th in the 200 free with
a time of 1:53.5, then followed that up with a 3rd place finish in
the 100 back. By Friday Jessie and Jacob had participated in
two National level championships racing for 10 days. They
were ready for the finale. Jacob finished 10th in the 200 i.m.
after swimming a swim off and breaking the Oregon Swimming 15-16
and CAT all time records. Jessie had her biggest swim of the
two meets being the first Female Oregon Swimmer to go under 17:00
in the 1500, going 16:59.1, finishing 13th over all. Jessie
and Jacob's points put CAT in the top 20 for combined standings,
out of the 300+ participating teams.
